Driving Hours------ Grand Prix Driving School Covid-19 Response Plan
All plans, rules, and procedures listed below are subject to change with no notice based on advice from Governor Baker, the CDC, the RMV, and the DSAA.
Students enrolled in our driver’s education program will be divided into 4 tiers based on the amount of drive time completed. Observation hours are not included in this calculation. You may login to Schedule2drive to find out how many hours you have finished. As of June 1st your schedule2drive account will be deactivated until your Tier is actively scheduling. The tier system will be strictly followed Monday-Friday. Keep reading below to find out the weekend schedule.
Tier 1: Students who have completed eight or more driving hours with Grand Prix. We will try to get your last 4 hours booked between June 10th and July 1st. You must be flexible with your schedule. This is not guarantee that you will finish before July 1st. Students from Tier 1 should follow this link to give us your availability.
Tier 2: Students who have completed one or more driving hours with Grand Prix. We will try to book as many hours for you as we can starting July 1st. Students will get a maximum of one session a week. Your schedule must be flexible. We can not guarantee that you will finish by any particular date. This is not a guarantee that you will get an appointment every week. Please follow this link to give us your availability.
Tier 3: Students who were issued a learner’s permit prior to March 16th 2020 but who have not started driving with Grand Prix yet. We will begin scheduling your hours starting August 1st. You will get a maximum of one lesson every other week until students from Tier 1 and 2 have finished. Then you may book more often. Your schedule must be flexible. We can not guarantee that you will finish by any particular date.
Tier 4: Students who have completed the classroom component with Grand Prix but were/will be issued a permit after March 16th 2020. You will get a maximum of one lesson every 3rd week starting September 1st until you have had your permit for at least 5 months. Your schedule must be flexible. We can not guarantee that you will finish by any particular date.
To work on improving your skills before you are allowed to start scheduling please check out our YouTube channel for videos on how to do all the maneuvers you will be expected to perform on your road test. Please only use this methodology as that is what you will be expected to use during your sessions with Grand Prix and on your Road Test Exam.
We are very sorry to say we will not be accepting driving only transfer students at this time unless you live on Cape Cod year round. You will fall into categories 3 or 4.
We will not be accepting new adult or competency students until August 26th 2020. All adult students will be booked during school hours. Current adult students are encouraged to call the office at 508-771-1227 or email Grandprixdrivingschool@gmail.com to find out how to schedule hours.
Monday-Friday we will be following the tiered system for booking driving hours. We will do our normal pick up and drop off at home for all those lessons. We will not follow the tiered system on weekends. Weekend hours will be available only for students who meet the following criteria.
Have completed at least one driving hour with Grand Prix
Are already eligible having had their permit for over 6 months or are over 18
Balance is paid in full
Has completed all classroom requirements
Is able to meet the instructor at designated pick up and drop off locations
There will be no home pick up and drop offs on weekends. Students will meet the instructor at a generalized central location and get returned there after their session. Exact locations will be updated later once we have our instructors hours of availability. We will post a weekend hours request form here when we are ready to start scheduling.
We will try to provide weekend hours for as many students as we can. Priority will go to those who are further along in terms of completed hours. Not who has held their permit the longest. Please follow this link to request weekend hours.
Students who have anxiety are encouraged to call the office before scheduling. The mandate for masks will make driving more stressful for certain students. Without the ability to read facial expressions and the added barrier between student and instructor, certain students will struggle and find the situation more stressful. We will not prevent you from driving. We do encourage you to call and let us know about your concerns before you start scheduling.
